Value Proposition for Aegle Nutrition

Hey everyone, I wanted to update you on my progress in Praxis.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while you know that I’m in the last month of the boot camp in Praxis. This month focuses on creating value propositions, or work projects, in order to get hired.

This week’s value prop is for Aegle Nutrition in the social media marketing role. I created 31 Instagram posts for them because their account has only one post, it’s nearly nonexistent.

Check out the value prop here.

Psalm 23: I Walk Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death

Psalm 23:1-6

A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Psalm 23 is one of the most famous verses from the Bible and has brought much comfort to those who are dying or lost a loved one. Usually, it’s read during a funeral.

Death is Not the End

Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

As a Christian, it brings me relief that I’ll see my family members again in heaven. I mourn not in fear that I won’t see my grandpa again but for the lack of time we could’ve spent together here on earth.

Those who genuinely hold Jesus in their heart will never truly die. Although our bodies will decay, our souls are still alive and we return to heaven.

Remembering My Grandpa’s Military Service

These past few days I’ve dedicated blog posts to my late grandpa. I’ll continue to celebrate memorable chapters in his life. Today’s post is about his military service.

My grandpa joined the People’s Liberation Army when he was just sixteen. He served during the last few months of World War II until the civil war between the communists and nationalists in China.

In Loving Memory of My Grandpa, the Real Life Robinhood

In loving memory of 王维兴 Wang Wei Xing.
August 3, 1930 – December 20, 2018

John 11:25, 26

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.”

My grandpa was a man of action. From the time he was a boy growing up in Dongbei (东北), to when he raised a family in Beijing (北京), he was known for his generosity. When he saw someone struggling to make ends meet he took action. He would steal food and money from his rich dad to give to his poor friends and neighbors.

Merry Christmas!

Matthew 1:23

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Let us be reminded that Christmas is a holiday for Christians celebrating the birth of Jesus. We are also reminded to be generous and help those in need.

The Gospels of Matthew and Luke explains the Nativity story. Joseph and Mary, Jesus’ stepfather and mother, traveled to Bethlehem for a census. The Roman emperor issued an order that all people must take the census in their hometown. Joseph was a descendant of King David and his hometown was Bethlehem.

After a long journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem, Mary and Joesph arrived at an inn but it was full to capacity. Mary was due any day so the owner of the inn allowed them to stay in the stable.

Since there wasn’t a crib for baby Jesus to sleep in, a manger or animal trough was used instead.

An angel appeared to a group of shepherds nearby and told them to spread the good news of Jesus’ birth. The Magi, or three wise men of the East, were sent to Bethlehem by King Herod to confirm the birth of Jesus. After finding the child, they bowed down and worshipped him and gave him gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

The Nativity story teaches us lessons in hospitality and generosity. We should be welcoming and give what we can, even if it’s scant, just like the inn owner providing a place for the holy family to stay. And like the wise men, we exchange gifts to remind us of the birth of Jesus.

Let us remember the true meaning of Christmas, not the commercialized version of it.

Merry Christmas!

My Grandpa in Memoriam

My grandpa age seventeen, a year after he joined the army.

I’ve taken a short hiatus from my blog because my grandpa passed away last Friday. He had a lung infection a week ago and he couldn’t breathe and was sent to the ER. My aunt called my dad to tell him that this could be the last time he can see my grandpa, so he bought a plane ticket to Beijing.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to come. When my dad arrived in Beijing he called me to say that grandpa was in stable condition and it wasn’t necessary for me to be there unless his condition worsened. Then a few days later his heart stopped suddenly. The lung infection had weakened his heart and the doctors tried their best to save him by injecting ten adrenaline shots. Normally only one or two doses are used. Continue reading My Grandpa in Memoriam

Telling Your “Hero’s Story” Increases Hireability

Employers want to get to know you and how you’re able to handle pressure and problem-solving. The whole purpose of an interview is to meet and greet future employees. Interviewers are not out there to trip you and ask tricky questions.

If during an interview you’re asked, “Give an example of how you’ve_______ in your current work.” I’ve been asked how I’ve taken the initiative, handled an emergency situation, or how I solved a problem. Continue reading Telling Your “Hero’s Story” Increases Hireability
