Why I’m Getting a Hubspot Certification

For this week’s value proposition, work project, I’m learning Hubspot, a customer relationship management (CRM) software.

Hubspot helps increase sales, marketing, and better customer service all in one place.

My reason for getting certified is many businesses use CRMs like Hubspot, and it’ll make me more hireable.

If you’re interested in earning a certification the link is here. And all the course are free.

I Want to Work for BitPay

Last week I targeted BitPay for a future apprenticeship role. I want to work for them because I believe in their innovative service making crypto payments faster, easier, and cheaper.

I created another value proposition, basically a work project like an elevator pitch that offers a solution for a hurdle that a company is experiencing.

Effective marketing is one of the hurdles that BitPay is experiencing and I found out it’s actually a common obstacle for any cryptocurrency company.

I’ve talked to United Precious Metals Association and Bitcoin.com representatives at LibertyCon and they both said marketing is a common issue among every cryptocurrency. They need to get the word out.

I assume the same goes for BitPay considering how it’s a small niche even within the crypto community. In order to get more sales and people to sign up for a BitPay wallet, there needs to be effective marketing.

Facebook ads are a cost-effective way to spread the word. So I took a look at BitPay’s website and found their main selling points (fast, easy to send and receive money, secure), then made it into ads.

The second half of my value prop focuses on conferences. When I talked to Bitcoin.com, they explained that attending conferences is one of their marketing strategies.

I put together a pitch of my marketing ideas for BitPay.

The presentation slides can be viewed here.

Scripture Sunday: Healing Psalms

Psalms 107:19-21

Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble,
And He saved them out of their distresses.
He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions.
Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

When we are hurt physically, emotionally, or spiritually/mentally, it’s tempting to give in to the bottomless pit of despair.

How to Answer “What are Your Weaknesses?”

“What are your weaknesses?” is a very common interview question and according to my professional career coach, Johnny Roccia, it’s actually a terrible question recruiters ask.

Johnny was a hiring manager for ten years and he’s conducted thousands of interviews. Here’s what he had to say about this particular question.

“I hate that question. It’s a horrible, stupid question that nobody should ask. Only old school people that don’t know what they’re doing ask that question…because the answers are complete bullshit.” Continue reading How to Answer “What are Your Weaknesses?”

Big News! I’m Speaking for the Mises Institute!

I’ve got big news. I’ll be speaking for the Mises Institute at their Orlando event!

The event is on February 16, next month, at UCF from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Renowned Austrian economist Bob Murphy and Mises Institute president Jeff Deist will also be speaking.

We’ll discuss Trump’s state of the union address and the culture wars in America and address the economic problems we’re facing. Additionally, a libertarian solution for these problems will be applied.

I love coming to Mises events because you can have civil discussions without getting into a shouting match. Everyone who attends is educated and approachable and open-minded.

Another perk coming to Mises events is the low cost of attendance. This event in Orlando is free for student or recent grads but you just need to register here.

You can find out more information about the event here as well.

Redesigned Website for Walkthrough

As promised, here is my redesigned website for Walkthrough which can be viewed here.

The original website looks like this.

I decided to create this project for Walkthrough because their landing page needed improvement. Every landing page is the face of the company and making it look attractive and easy-to-navigate will encourage more sales.

Future customer’s are more likely to stick around on a website if the product looks appealing.

How I’m Redesigning a Website

For last week’s work project I redesigned a website for Walkthrough, a startup for real estate agents to find services like photographers.

Ideally, I wanted to learn how to properly build a website through HTML or CSS.

However, it’s unrealistic to learn a coding language in under a week so I used Wix to build a website.

Wix is user friendly and builds beautiful websites which is why I chose them.

I looked at another company website called VocaWorks for inspiration and took some design cues.

VocaWorks has a beautiful and colorful landing page versus Walkthrough which is very plain.

I’ll update my progress and post the finished website soon.
