How I Found Potential Leads for My Sales Project

I’m in the placement module of Praxis which means it’s the last leg of the journey before I officially start my apprenticeship.

Praxis recently revamped modules five and six to help us create better projects with a clearer guideline.

For this week, I went back into the revamped module 6 and looked at examples of sales projects. I got some ideas such as finding potential leads and creating email templates.

This week’s project will involve potential leads and email templates for Gimme Vending, a startup that specializes in micro-markets.

Feeling Burnt Out? Try These Tips

I’m halfway through Praxis and no lie it’s been a difficult but rewarding journey. The curriculum is only difficult if I don’t adapt to it but so far I’ve been doing great.

However, I occasionally get tired and burnt out. I have to recognize my limits and that I can’t churn out work constantly like a machine. Here’s what I do.

Why I’m Teaching My Friend to Swim

My friend Vance has no idea how to swim and sinks like a rock when he tries to, so he asked me if I could teach him since I work for a swim school.

Vance is a pretty cool guy and he practices MMA as a hobby. He said he wants to learn how to swim not just for survival skills but to “get one step closer to world domination.”

You see, Vance has ambition and in order to achieve his goals, he learns a new skill. Be like Vance. Learning a diverse range of skills makes you smarter and definitely more hireable.

During our swim lesson, I tested Vance on freestyle, backstroke, and back floating. Testing him gives me a good idea of where he’s at right now so he is starting from rock bottom.

Before we tried to learn all the swim strokes, I wanted him to master back floating first because it’s one of the most important survival skills. Noodles and kickboards come in handy when you’re trying to teach an adult how to swim.

Once he gets his back floating down we’ll move on to basic strokes and kicks.

Scripture Sunday: Hope

1 Peter 5:10

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

What does this 1 Peter 5:10 mean? Peter tells us that suffering is inevitable in life but it will end if we’re faithful to Christ.

God promised his followers an eternity free of suffering, especially those who are persecuted for their faith, which is outlined in the chapter of 1 Peter.

Peter explains we cannot expect our salvation (faith to Christ) to eliminate earthly pain. Instead, God will end our suffering forever when we ascend to heaven, making us strong again.

Everything we’ve lost will be restored once we’ve returned home to heaven, and then some.

Those who believe in God will be greatly rewarded.

How to Create Inbound Leads in HubSpot

I created a short tutorial on how to capture inbound leads using HubSpot. I used Remine as an example for the pop-up form.

While I was learning to use HubSpot, I decided to document what I learned and help others by filming a step-by-step tutorial. HubSpot provided an inbound leads certification course, which was included in my account for free. I decided to break down the HubSpot inbound leads lesson and condense it into a short tutorial.

Professional Advice About Follow-ups and Public Speaking

Today I video chatted with Johnny Roccia, my career coach, about value proposition follow-ups and public speaking.

Here’s some notes I took during the call.

Value prop follow-ups

  • If you emailed a value prop but don’t hear back from a business then email a follow-up.
  • Add something of value in the follow-up email.
  • Ask unrelated professional questions such as common interests you have with the person you emailed, or share an interesting article. Stalk their LinkedIn and Facebook.
  • Limit yourself to just three follow-up emails. Anything more would make you seem annoying. Plus it shows proof that you really tried to reach out and maybe they’ll consider responding.

Public speaking

  • If you mess up the audience doesn’t know, like if you meant to say one thing but say something else.
  • Don’t overdo practice because it’ll become scripted and flow unnaturally.
  • Roll your shoulders back to straighten your posture.
  • If it’s a Ted Talk style then just write down bullet points on a card and let it flow like storytelling.
