I’m creating a new series of posts starting today. Every Sunday I’ll share a psalm or a Bible passage. I’m doing this to remind myself to be faithful to the Lord and to inspire fellow Christians to do the same.
Psalm 46:1-3 is about finding strength and encouragement through difficult times. When our plans fall through and life seems to fall apart, trust the Lord because he’ll clear your mind and give you the strength to march forth. Sometimes our failed plans are blessings in disguise, think of it as an opportunity to learn from mistakes and come up with a better plan.
I had dreamed of attending art school in Savannah, Georgia but it was too expensive despite earning two scholarships that would’ve paid for a quarter of tuition each year. I was a few months away from graduating high school and I realized I needed to make a decision about college soon. Either go to art school and join the Marines to get the GI bill, or attend a community college. I refused to go into debt.
Ultimately, I chose community college and it was definitely a blessing in disguise. If I chosed art school I wouldn’t have learned free market economics or got into Praxis.
Psalm 46:1-3 NIV Bible
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3
and the mountains quake with their surging.
