What Can We Learn From Children?

I work for a swim school and I’ve noticed children can teach adults lessons that we’ve forgotten. As we grow up we lose ourselves to collectivism and the pressure to conform. Children aren’t afraid to be themselves.

Kids are direct and honest when expressing their opinions and feelings.

They communicate their wants and needs clearly and succinctly without hesitation. As we grow up, miscommunication becomes common and causes breakups or costly mistakes at work. Let’s learn from their example and don’t be afraid to speak plainly but politely.

Children make friends easily.

I’ve observed kids and how they interact with each other and usually, they want to be friends, once they overcome their initial shyness. They also reserve no judgment until they get to know you better. Children all have a common goal; to have fun and doing that requires other people so they find ways to connect with everyone around them.

We should all learn these lessons from them, children are a constant reminder of how we could make our communities better.
